Ahh the Marrickville Metro, its an iconic shopping experience serving the Inner West of Sydney since 1987. I was fortunate to experience it first in 1993 when dressed in a chicken suit I had the opportunity to open the first Franklin’s Big Fresh. My career may have spiralled since then but the Metro has always made an impression on me.
With an expansive car parking system, the Metro is easily accessible. It’s heralded shopping scene is the delight of any working class man to fashionista. The international food court is a mix of tasty treats from around the world and exemplifies the mix of people that live in the area . Last but not least is the delightful market experience with its collection of artisanal cheese, fresh fruit and veggies. Do yourself a favour next time your in the area drop into the Metro, you won’t be disappointed.
I love New Orleans in the evening taking in the New Orleans Cemetery and Louise Armstrong Park with a little bit of Voodoo. Then doing the river walk along the Mississippi as the sun goes down. Onto Jacksons Square and the amazing St Loius Cathereral to visit one of many fortune tellers. Then it’s time for Frenchman and Bourbon Street for some creole cooking, pumping live jazz and slurping on Hurricanes till the sun rises again, amazing
I love my home of Newtown, it’s not just the amazing collection of restaurants, outdoor areas and vintage shopping. There is the artwork on buildings, the cool creepy ass graveyard and EXTREME bicycle riding through the streets. But mostly it’s the amazing sunsets, quality bars and the fantastic people.
So do yourself a favour and go catch a band (when we can aka Dandy Warhol’s) head down to Henson to watch the Jets and enjoy a $1 coffee by the full moon.
I love Detroit it’s kind of run down with abandoned buildings and urban decay. But there is also some fantastic structures such as the Fisher building made of limestone, marble and granite. The Detroit Institute of Arts with is world class collection including a my personal favourite Andy Warhol. And much like Joe Biden, Detroit is stating to make a come back, hope to see it again one day
