The first National Park on this road trip is Joshua Tree. Plentiful cactus, rocks and sand is about, there actually is no tree. The NPS person told me it’s named after the town outside the park, not an actual tree. U2s album is named after the park.

Funnily enough Joshua Tree will be the last of the four Parks we’re visiting on this trip…we’ll be there in about 10 days. But surely there are hundreds of joshua trees in the park – isn’t it an overgrown member of the agave family (as in, tequila and mezcal)? I may be wrong but I thought there was loads!?

Lol it’s named after the town next door to the park, I was looking for the trees. Just don’t talk into a cactus, I did and had to pull out the stinger, there are lots of them
