Argh Winchester on a hot summers day where you can view ye olde Norman Cathedral then read psalms from the pulpit. Where the evenings are glorious , clocks shining brightly and find yourself alongsdide King Alfred (the guy who beat the Vikings on the TV show, Vikings) staring into sunset. Then retire to the pub to imbibe yourself on locally distilled Gin and tankards of ale and last but not least take a selfie with King Arthurs Round Table. Glorious.

I have been there. It is a nice little town. Easy to get to by train.

Hey Dave,
Love this post! My husband and I spent 2 weeks in London back in 2019 and we absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to get back to the U.K. and explore other areas, like Winchester.

I was over there for a few months in 2019. I used to live in the UK on a 2 year holiday working visa, like to get back whenever I can ๐

I love Winchester Cathedral and beside it the remains of an earlier cathedral. The Bishops of Winchester had a palace nearby, which is well worth a visit. They also had a palace on Southbank, in London, the remains of which are still there.

Nice post and lovely photos! I live in England, but haven’t yet visited Winchester. As someone with a huge interest in history, I really must make the trip!
